Safe Place has set an ambitious goal of educating at least 2.5 million youth in 2008 through its "Building A Safety Net For Youth" awareness campaign. The more than 140 Safe Place programs across the country will count the following during the year in an effort to reach the goal:
- Youth accessing help through Safe Place sites
- Youth receiving phone counseling from a shelter after learning about Safe Place
- Youth educated through school presentations
- Youth receiving outreach cards and bracelets with Safe Place information
- Youth viewing public service announcements in schools and in movie theaters during National Safe Place Week
- Youth requesting information via text messages
