Safe Place Implementation Training
The final 2010 Safe Place implementation training will be held in conjunction with the National Conference held in Louisville, Kentucky at The Brown Hotel, 335 West Broadway, Louisville, Kentucky, 40202.
September 29 - October 1, 2010
National Safe Place strives for quality and consistent services in every community where the Safe Place sign displayed. The yellow and black, diamond-shaped sign should always represent immediate help and safety. Whether it is a young person experiencing abuse or neglect, enduring the fear and embarrassment of bullying or seeking safety from neighborhood danger, Safe Place is an option.
National Safe Place provides local Safe Place agencies the training and program support necessary to implement and carry out these services. The implementation training is intended for agencies preparing to establish Safe Place. Training is mandatory for new Safe Place agencies and it is a requirement that key staff responsible for coordinating the project attend.
Training topics include:
- History and development of Safe Place
- Setting up and maintaining a Safe Place program
- Safe Place procedures
- Community and school outreach
- Media and public relations
- Volunteer utilization
- Partnering with other community organizations (transit, fire departments, law enforcement agencies)
- Funding/Development
Registration/training fee - $400.00 (includes registration and training materials)
For more information or to register to attend, contact Susan Harmon, Organizational Advancement Director, at 1-888-290-7233.
